Mother Goose as Political Commentary

Hi- I am interested in the contemporary meaning of Mother Goose verses as they relate to the commentary of the day. I understand that Ring Around o' Rosie (?) is about the Plague and other verse such as Jack Sprat may have been about the King. I would appreciate any direction towards the "meaning" of the verses. Thank you.
