There is a childrens opera called Humpty Dumpty. The true story behind this is that a man called Dr Chillingworth invented a siege engine in 1643,called Humpty Dumpty to act as a bridge across the River Severn so King Charles I of England could beat the Roundheads in Gloucester. It collapsed because Col Massey and the citizens of Gloucester dug the River Severn wider during the night, hence the end of the rhyme 'All the King's Horses and all the King's men couldn't put Humpty together again'
