I am researching this topic because of my ninth grade classes. I had read and been taught the rosy was actually the body infected by the plague, as the fever was so high it caused the victim to turn a rosy color. As for the posy, much like protecing oneself against vampires, the townspeople wore little bags of herbs and spices around their necks to ward off the evil they thought cause the plague. I am learning there are many versions of the origin of the nursery rhyme.
